  • App problems

    My audio books return to one particular chapter every time I pause it. Quite frustrating especially while driving. Have to bookmark every single pause.
  • The app needs some work

    App freezes or crashes quite a bit; have to restart frequently. Such a pity...great idea but still needs work
  • No such thing as “free trial”

    I tried their “free trial” for the audiobooks. The only thing you can listen to is a SAMPLE of the book. And when you think you’ve already unsubscribed, they’ll sneakily charge you 30 days later! BS.
  • Sick of the nicole and dime games!

    Why can’t anyone make an honest audio book app that doesn’t change mid way, up charge, play games? Can’t you learn from Netflix? Spotify? Pay a fee, get the books! It’s simple! But no... constant games instead

    Playster blocks all premium books and disables your ability to search if they feel you use the app to much They only let you access old non popular books When you call service they can’t help you In all fairness I drive for a living and use a large volume of books I requested to modify my agreement to get access they say they are working on it So is this false advertising to say unlimited books
  • Extremely Unreliable.

    This is the worst audiobook app I have ever used. It truly deserves zero stars. There is a nice selection of audiobooks available, but I had way too many issues with the app to make it worth the money that I would save. First, the app is slow to load. It always loads the same page first, showing content for all categories, when all I care about is the section I’ve subscribed to. Each page to get to my audiobooks is slow to load. Second, every time I launch the app, I have to set the narration speed. This seems like a small thing, but adds to the amount of time it takes to get started listening. Third, the button to skip back has never worked for me with where it is located. The app always either opens a list of the book’s chapters or pauses when I try to skip back, unless I lock my phone first to change the size and location of the button. Fourth, the app routinely logs me out and tells me my password is incorrect, making me request an email to reset it. Today all of the final straws broke and I will no longer be using this service. I tried to listen to my audiobook and was told I have too many devices associated with my account. I have only ever used the service on my phone. After deleting the authorized devices (my phone was listed three times for some reason), I received another error message that my account has been canceled and I would have to reactivate. I was charged on November 7th, only 10 days ago. My account should not have been canceled. This app and the service is absolutely terrible. I wish I had never wasted my time trying to use it.
  • Bait & Switch

    We should submit a complaint to the FTC or something because this app/site/service is all about bait & switch. Like other folks have said, Playster is very dishonest about its plan. I signed up for the 14 free trial and didn’t have to enter any info and when I went to actually listen to an audiobook, I was prompted to extend my free trial to 30 days and enter my credit card info. Forget that! What a terrible, terrible service.
  • Still on free month

    The search tags could use some work. It was almost impossible to find books by J. D. Robb and Sue Grafton. I’m still on my trial period, and so far I’ve lost the book I was listening to, and can’t find any authors in the app I saw on the online page. I’ll give it a few more weeks, but so far not worth paying $14.99 a month.

    Not a great selection of books compared to Audible which I have used for years. Does not make recommendations based on your listening history and complicated to save and store books

    If I pretend I’m a new customer, I can find lots of audiobooks I would like to listen to, but as soon as I login, I can’t find them, even with the premium membership. Customer service was unable to help except to refer me to an excuse in the fine print- not all users will have access to all the titles all of the time based on location or use. So, as soon as you start listening to “too many” books, they pull the selection. The app is also terrible. It crashes, doesn’t remember passwords, and the search function is horrible. Customer service is also lacking. The app has been terrible from the beginning, but I was willing to deal with the inconvenience since it was relatively inexpensive. Then they more than doubled the monthly fee. Now, I the selection of books is very limited. I’ve paid for many months without using it. I’d rather spend the money on titles I want to listen to while using an app that works. Customer service didn’t even reply to my last inquiry. Very disappointing. Stick with Audible or try out Hibooks.
