Description

The Moog Model 15 App is the first Moog modular synthesizer and synthesis educational tool created exclusively for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. Each facet of the Moog Model 15 modular synthesizer has been meticulously recreated in this application to ensure the power and transcendent sound quality of each module remains intact. The character, harmonic complexity and mystique of the Moog Model 15’s modules, from the legendary Moog 921–series oscillators and 904A Low Pass Filter, to the coveted 907 Fixed Filter Bank have been painstakingly preserved. In order to develop the most immersive and expressive modular interface possible, the Model 15 App has been designed utilizing Apple’s new Metal advanced graphics engine. This ensures that all zooming, panning and modular patching throughout the application feels completely natural, something that would have been impossible otherwise. The Model 15 App features both monophonic and 4-voice polyphonic operation is easily commanded via 4 seamlessly integrated controllers. Simple swipes and taps provide instant access to a traditional Moog keyboard, 1150 ribbon controller, 8-step sequencing arpeggiator and the award-winning Animoog keyboard with 22 built-in scales and polyphonic modulation capabilities. Also included are extended features which expand the capabilities of the app beyond the traditional offerings of the hardware Moog Model 15. These include total MIDI integration, assignment for external control, use as a MIDI controller, dedicated Audio Bridge and MIDI Bridge modules, looping recorder module with overdubbing, a master ping-pong delay module and a new extension cabinet that includes additional amplifiers and voltage-controlled reversible attenuators that can be used for effects like ring-modulation. Because the Model 15 App utilizes Apple’s Metal technology, only 64-bit devices are supported. Compatible devices include iPhone 5s or newer, iPod touch 6 or newer, iPad Air or newer, and the iPad Pro. The Model 15 App requires iOS version 9.3 or later to work. Additional Features • Ships with over 160 unique presets • Recreates the sound of a hardware Moog Model 15 modular synthesizer • Easily share presets and recordings with anyone • Tutorial patches to assist all experience levels • Intuitive patching and cable coloring • Support for landscape and portrait modes • Voltage-controlled stereo ping-pong delay • Expressive sequencing arpeggiator • Moog 1150 Ribbon controller • Real-time looping recorder with overdub and immediate sharing • Up to two controllers on-screen (iPad only) • Optional left-handed UI operation Supports • AUv3 Audio Unit Extensions • 3D Touch and Apple Pencil integration for after pressure • Note-per-channel MIDI controllers • Ableton Link • Inter-App Audio and Audiobus • MIDI Bridge and Audio Bridge • 7 and 14-Bit MIDI • MIDI Program Change • Bluetooth LE MIDI controllers • Typing keyboards for shortcuts and musical typing • AudioCopy, AudioPaste and AudioShare

Like the sounds, but expansions need to have some type of way to audition the content. I am looking for a bank of brass sounds but I can’t tell which expansion can use most to this. Make the details more clear to users by offering some type of audio preview or rendered song to give us a better idea of the expansion content
  • Amazing instrument. Well worth the investment.

Top Notch, near perfection. Just missing the AU interface: Update. Now with AUV3, it’s perfect.
  • Incredibly deep and useful.

I’ve had this for about a day now and have not been able to put it down. The synth sounds great for being an iphone app - a lot better than many of the software plugins out there. I’m using this on an iphone 7+ so I have to do a lot of scrolling and zooming, which is expected. The GUI is crystal clear and making patches is pretty easy as well. I think an area where this app could be improved is in the tutorials. Being new to modular synthesis, I enjoyed the two tutorials that show you around but it would have been nice to have more tutorials showing you how to make basic sounds (drums, saws, pads, ect). That being said, as an educational tool I think this app is well worth the money and makes learning about modular synths a lot of fun. Best synth on the app store.

I got this because I didn't want to pay 20$ on some modern synth app that's going to come w presets, that I can only use some of and then get tired of. This is the synth to get. I'm learning how to use it still, but it comes with presets you can load and mess with so u don't have to build everything from scratch. Go look at the Roland synth app reviews. It's not easy to pull off something this.
  • Went from 5 to 3 stars with latest update

Was sooooooo perfect until the latest update messed it up, now I get a lot of cracking and popping that didn’t exist at all before, such a shame. I use it mainly as an audio unit, in Beatmaker 3, on an IPad Air 2. I’m really disappointed with 2.0.6, which is supposed to be an auv3 improvement but it seems to be the opposite. I really I hadn’t updated.
  • Fantastic! Please also bring it to the Mac!

This app is absolutely fantastic. Now the only thing I wish for is a counterpart on the Mac/PC with the option to transfer patches back and forth...
  • Problem!

Update: Moog Music’s Model 15 app could use a phase oscilloscope with at least time and amplitude controls. The only synth app, that I am aware, that has these controls is the iVCS3. The record/import features are not all that useful while they are limited to just 5 minutes ESPECIALLY since it’s my understanding that Allihoopa will accept posts up to 10 minutes long. If I use an app to record from the Model 15, anything longer than 5 minutes is truncated. (The current version of the app occasionally crashes, as did the previous update, when trying to import an audio track longer than 5 minutes.) ——- I'm in sound heaven! It has the down and dirty sound that only Moog Sound can do! The zoom, finally, is not just good...it zooms enough to actually be useful. Oh, check out the nearly 20 minute video on Youtube! They've added a bottom panel to the Model 15 with modules that are especially for iOS users! Offloading all the graphics using Apple Metal to the GPU really helps to pull this all together. I like what I see and hear. Suggest restarting your device before running. I had 8 sound apps loaded and their was a little sound clipping. I unloaded them, did NOT restart Air 1G/9.3.1 nor Model 15 and audio cleaned up. It has key-hold that so many synth developers leave off still! Even left and righted cable behavior. Did their quick start tutorial and I'm leaving this world for several hours. Will update review with second impression when I return to Earth! LOL
