I think is a good tool to keep a Journal, i have been using it, this is the first time a really can keep a journal of any type, i have being use notes (free is good price) i would be incline to purchase it but $25.00 is somewhat to much for a writing app let along a year subscription. thanks kind regards
  • Two problems

    By Spark3k
Your support site is not Https and is marked insecure by chrome and safari. And your app does not add another space after creating a full stop (period) with two taps of the spacebar like all other apps do. Please fix and I'll adjust rating.
  • Still no apple pencil support

An ipad journaling app that continues to refuse to incorporate apple pencil is worthless.
  • Great app, but...

The new update I’m not fond of much, the Hoefler font was removed and I personally enjoy the font, it looks very nice and much more appealing than the other fonts that are in the selection. I’m not sure what it means by «(too non-standard)», but I love the font. If someone doesn’t want to use the font, then they won’t. But you shouldn’t remove it because I guarantee there’s a lot of people who use it and love it. Since I saw this, I refuse to update to the newest version because of it. This font helps me stay engaged in writing the entries I do. It has a great feel to it, in my opinion.
  • Love it, small bugs

    By Clarkezone
Love this app it’s great for diarying every day. I’ve had quite a few crashes and other issues like reminders not kicking in and inserting items if you open the app rather than launching from the notification.
  • Micro subscriptions not good

Same as others. Plenty of cloud providers like Dropbox or iCloud. Seems like a money play not technical reason.
  • I want to like DayOne but . . .

The issue for me is that it doesn't sync with iCloud, a cloud service I already subscribe to. Yes, it's true that iCloud has had issues in the past but it's very robust now. It's also encrypted in transit and at rest. The subscription model is an issue with me too. Especially since the three day outage and loss of data around the time I signed up. Also, the sync between the Mac and iPad was always running into non-connect issues. I worked with the developer on this, sent many dumps, but nothing was resolved. When I discussed the issues I was having with my devices not syncing (iPad, iPhone, MacBook) I discovered that the developer didn't have five 9s (high availability) and this was scary to me. Also, the files are not stored individually but rather in a location I can't access. This ties me to an export function should I decide to move journaling apps. Although I'd been with DayOne since the beginning and upgraded to DayOne's subscription service, I decided to cut my losses and move to iA Writer which supports sync with iCloud (and it's encryption) and write individual files in markdown (no special format) thereby future-proofing my 20 years of journals. I can at any time view my journals/journal entries and open them with any markdown or text editor. Apple's new "Shortcuts" (workflows) makes adding a new entry or updating an existing one a breeze. For me this is the best journaling solution. Your mileage may vary.
  • Daily merge, please?

    By DrPeril
There has been a lot of good developments lately but DayOne is still, conspicuously missing an obvious, and I would think simple, feature: merge daily entries. I understand it might not be a desire of everyone, so maybe an on/off toggle, but merging multiple entries on the same day would make my journals feel cleaner, make finding specific data easier, and remove the blank entries that are saved if you accidentally tap new and then back out. Seriously, saving empty data is a laughable bug. Otherwise it’s good!
