  • Good for beginners/amateurs

    By NightsDEdge
I have just recently gotten into animation, and drawing. I use it near daily, however, the lines will never seem straight, as you would see in professional software. There is no ‘flip’ option to be found, which I think should be a standard. If there is, then it is near impossible to find. Finally, even though this most likely will be fixed soon, there is no optimization for the 11 inch iPad Pro, which I use to run this app. I am aware that this iPad only released 3 days ago, at the time of writing this, but I feel that it should still be mentioned. So, if you are okay with spending a little bit of money, and are aware you won’t get something you would on a drawing tablet, this isn’t a bad app, for what it was made for, and it’s price. If you really don’t want to spend the money, the free version is more or less the same, just with less brushes. Just fix the optimization, and add a ‘flip’ option for selected areas, and this would be 5 stars.
  • So many bugs

    By R.J. Peña
There are a number of bugs I’ve run into that makes work tedious. I am unable to export .psd files through email as advertised. Is this still a function? The file option does not exist, nor does an image sequence export, which makes my project useless. Layers don’t keep their names when you switch frames Undo doesn’t work after switching frames or after certain actions Tutorial videos are outdated and no longer match the current GUI, which is very confusing The quality of brush strokes is low and full of aliasing Slow response times to help tickets. I really need that image sequence export and it’s been almost a full day with no response
  • Broken and buggy

    By Cortopasta
Can’t get stuff like rotoscoping to work at all. Emailed the support line and they said it should be fixed “soon”. Soon ended up being a few weeks, and it just breaks during import rather than shutting you out completely. Total waste of money
  • I’ve had to deduct a star

    By The Roman Candle
My initial review of this app was pretty favorable, but as I work through it more, I realize that there are a few points that keep me from loving this as a five-star app. It would be nice to see some features implemented into future iterations: 1) Brushes and eraser that can keep up with strokes. Currently there’s some SERIOUS lag, and I sometimes have to pause my workflow until the strokes catch up. 2) The ability to rotate the canvas; currently you must rotate the iPad at various angles to draw comfortably. Most drawing apps already include the ability to rotate the canvas. 3) The ability to flip between key (tagged) frames. 4) The tool bar should be widened to accommodate the brushes and the layers on the same bar without having to swipe across from one to the other. Also, one bug that I’ve encountered is that layer names quickly revert to their default Layer names after you’ve named them.
  • Good app. Copy paste from frame to frame is an issue.

Hey guys, good app. Originally posted the review below. It was my lack of knowledge of the feature. Updating my review. Love your product guys. (Do you not have a feature to copy from one frame's later to another frame? It seems that you can only duplicate all layers but not one layer.)
  • Some serious design issues here

Review - Part 2 - Hello again, Storyboarding and Animation are two completely separate and different phases in the animation process. Your Animation module, even if quite old-fashioned, works fine to create traditional frame-by-frame-hand-drawn animations. Although higher frame-rate capabilities and an always visible and scrollable interactive timeline (with keyframes thumbnails) would definitely help while animating. As for the Storyboarding module, sorry guys, the concept is completely wrong: storyboards are created BEFORE animations, not from already animated frames! Storyboard artist need to quickly sketch drawings and to frame them into a page, sometimes adding camera movements references (e.g. showing with some arrows where there is a zoom from A view to B view, or a pan movement...). So, providing a blank page with blank frames is ok, but the artists need, at least, to be able to: 1 - modify the aspect ratio of those blank frames (16:9 or else) 2 - to select each single frame in order to open it in a ‘drawing mode’, by simply double-clicking a frame. 3 - to add “camera movement arrows” and other notes Over the drawings. This would be a good starting point. Thank you, MS —————— Part 1 This app could be awesome, although it’s been designed to make the animation process complex and slow. Besides the fact that it crashes every other time I use it, and it does not keep tool bar and preferences as I previously set them... it forces you to create a new sequence each time you need a new single frame to put into the Storyboard page??? Seriously??? Wouldn’t it be way way way simpler and faster opening up a Drawing Mode just by clicking on a blank storyboard frame? And just by closing the Drawing Mode you can have your new frame already embedded into the storyboard. A storyboard artist needs to be fast! Thanks. MS
  • Great at first

It was great at first but now, every time I try to view my frames, the app crashes and I lose my work. Hopefully it will get fixed soon.

  • Opportunities, but still wonky

    By the screaming parakeet
I got this for my chance to get a taste at animation. Although I’m making progress, I don’t like the pen. It looks chunky, thus making the lineart degrade in quality. I still like the opportunity. Just need a better pen and more tools.
