  • Previous version was great

Very frustrated with the new version of the app (ver. 2.2.0). Not only am I trying to learn guitar, but now I have to learn how to use the app all over again. Not at all intuitive. I made it through 3/4 of the Beginner Course with incredible success. Then they updated the app. Previous version was just fine and very helpful for my studies. I can no longer rate my progress per song, so that I can come back and work on them. There is no sense of progression because of the lost training history. I am finding myself researching on YouTube because it’s easier to navigate than the app. There is a section called “Playlist” were you can save songs. With the latest version, it will start the next song before you even finish the one your playing. It’s been like that for several weeks now with no fix. Before the update I would have given this app 5 Stars! This is one of those times where they completely ruined the app with the update. Like the old saying goes, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
  • Quick and fun learning

I learned to play guitar 15 years ago and though I learned quite a bit, I had to quit my lessons due to cost. Now, I’m back at it and it’s moving fast. Like others in their 40s+, you can learn an instrument. So worth it!
  • App not fully debugged

    By Elbnsc1
I had same problem as another reviewer, paid for the app but access denied. However, app designer has been in contact with me unlike the other reviewer although after three days, no progress. I’m in US, app designer in Finland and I’ve learned technical support IS NOT AVAILABLE 24x7. Therefore time delays ARE A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH SUPPORT, especially when the design has a fundamental flaw. They told me the conversion part was controlled by Apple so there was nothing they could do. They didn’t tell me why they had designed the app in such a way as to not have total access to anything that could go wrong. Obviously this app works for some or actually from the comments, most users. However, it’s been three days of frustration for me for something that wasn’t sufficiently debugged initially. After another day working with support they closed the troubleshooting blaming the problem on Apple and telling me I should request a refund from Apple. I think Justin’s deserves a much better software developer because I think from his YouTube videos he’s a first class teacher, therefore deserves a first class developer.
  • Great Training App

Very well organized beginner guitar app journey through the basics. The best part is the play along songs section which gets you used to keeping time with real music. Highly recommended!

Tried this and another app. This app makes me feel like I am making progress faster. You are playing along with songs early on!
  • Exactly what I’ve been looking for!

Really appreciate this app, very easy to use with tons of variety that keeps you interested. This is the first time I was willing to pay for an app, I’ve been looking around for a few years. I’ve watched Justin’s videos on YouTube, and it’s nice to be able to support him. Plus, the app nicely organizes the songs in one place. The songs are fun to play which is most important to me. The progression is a well thought out process and pace. I had to relearn how to play some chords, like the A chord, because he uses different finger placement, but it’s actually better when changing between chords.
  • A Solid Skills Course That's An Absolute BLAST

    By xanthippe2854
Well-constructed tiny bites of information, delivered in a supportive environment that nevertheless sets a pretty high bar. Justin strikes just the right balance of encouragement and challenge. And the exercises are spot on! You learn a lot, and have a great time doing it. (I'm saying this as a woman over 60 who is learning guitar after a lifeline as a classically-trained pianist. :) )
  • The Best Even Better

When used in conjunction with the redesigned website, an incomparable method.
  • Never to old to learn something new

I’ve always wanted to learn to play guitar, so a few months ago, I went out and bought one. My daughter told me about Justin’s app, so I played with it for a couple of days and then put my money down. I like the step by step progression and I like being able to see my progress. I’m excited to keep going.
