I love lifting and strength workouts. I dislike running, but it’s an effective workout required by my work. I’ve always struggled to find a balance between lifting and running. Too much off either detracts from the other and I like to lift heavy. I’ve been stubborn for years, but I’m ready to meet in the middle. This app gives me the middle ground I’m looking for where I can get challenging strength workouts I enjoy with monthly varying goals that complement running. Room for improvement: - I prefer to use my home gym which is mostly barbell based. A setting where you could pick your equipment and the app would default to the appropriate equipment would be awesome. I know you can switch workouts and make them permanent for a block or indefinitely. But with so many workouts I feel like every week I’m having to manually switch out. — Something simple like checkboxes for body weight, bands, barbells, dumbbells, cables weights, weight machines. - The reps/weight seems weird. Sometimes I manually add a weight in and it doesn’t carry over. Was I supposed to use just the bar weight? Also, when this happens sometimes I don’t notice and I finish the workout with a lower volume. Which leads me to my point. - There doesn’t seem to be a way to fix your workout history reps or weight after you go forward far enough or finalize a session. - Sometimes I travel for work so a mode that defaults to all body weight workouts would be awesome.

This is a great app! I was super stoked to use it, but yet again another app I cannot use on deployment because it has no airplane capabilities. It’s a bummer.

For an average app which offers very little In terms of training, it's incredibly difficult to unsubscribe. Don't sign up for this app. It's NOT worth it.

This is my first app review. I’m a former college football player and USA bobsledder. I kinda let myself go after I hung my cleats up. Volt has recharged my enthusiasm for fitness in and outside the gym. Well worth the money.

Been using the Volt Athletics app for about 2 weeks now. I like it because it keeps me from doing the same routine workouts everyday. One thing I wish they would incorporate into their “workout genres” is workouts for action sports athletes (motocross, snowboarding, rock climbing, etc.) I race motocross and as people in this industry know, it is one of the most physically demanding sports there is— and it requires high endurance workouts. Other than that, good app.

For real, this app has gotten me to kick my own booty at the gym way more than I would’ve without its help. I’ve lost 10 pounds of fat, gained serious muscle, and honestly look FORWARD to my three strength sessions per week. Thanks, Volt!

I used the app last week M/W/F and it worked well, smooth for the most part the occasional slow glitch. Today was my fourth workout and it was glitchy, freezing, and was so slow. Wouldn’t let me replace my workouts where I would click replace this movement and then it would highlight but wouldn’t do anything. Then, I went through the rest of the workout and clicked finish. It didn’t display my workout highlights. Also, didn’t ask pre workout questions. Only reason I didn’t uninstall the app is I went through the trouble to subscribe for the app. Frustrating when your trying to workout and stay on a flow and you have to be an IT expert to fix it simultaneously. I’m going to keep trying it. Maybe it was due to having a 46% battery making my phone run slow. But, not sure. Even still a couple hours later, my workout still hasn’t saved it resets to about halfway through. Please fix cause I love the concept and the way it tells you what to do. Thanks!!
  • Great Program!

I’m a 45 year old former college football player that was looking for a program that would motivate me and push me a little while making reps, sets, and movements interesting. The “cross-fit” style programs required high volume, a lot of time, and a long recovery period. This is amazing so far!

Edit: Reduced from 4 stars to 3, due to lack of desired features from a pay-to-use app. I gave this app 4 stars because it’s lacking a couple basic things that any pay-for major-branded app should have (i.e. Gatorade). If I could do half-stars, I’d really lean towards 3.5 stars. 1. Where’s the Apple Watch compatibility? I should be able to adjust weight and reps on my watch. I should be able to select ‘done’ with my current set and see a timer for my rest and see what’s next. 2. Where’s the iPad function for basic users? Volt has all kinds of stats available to coaches on the Volt Team app. Why can’t I see the same thing for myself? 3. I’d like a little more flexibility and tracking of non-prescribed workouts. If I do a finisher, primer, or one of their “extras”, I should be able to select that as an additional workout and have the same rep counter and weight tracking functionality. The app should also track that and put it into corresponding data points for down the road (and I should see that in stats on the iPad app I don’t have). 4. I’d like more freedom on selecting workouts. Right now I can only change the set to what it thinks is in the same grouping (ex. I can’t select curls if it wants me to do a squat). I like that there is the grouping of, say straight leg or bent leg exercises, but I’d like to see a third option of “all exercises”. 5. I wish there was a way to select what gym equipment I have so it could build the exercises around that. Not everyone has a GHD or goes to a gym that has one. It’d be nice to say I have this, this, and this equipment available to me and the app would use exercises that use that equipment. If I have to pay to use this app, then I want more. If Gatorade is paying Volt to use this as a advertisement, then I want more. I expect more. This is a great app that’s really missing the mark by just a few, simple changes.
