Hashi, also called "Bridges", "Chopsticks" and "Ai-Ki-Ai", is a popular puzzle game.
Gets the basics mostly right, and nobody else does
Every other Hashi game I’ve tried either has a tiny limited number of puzzles (or, worse, claims “hundreds” but has an unwinnable one that blocks you from reaching the rest...), has an unconstrained generator that produces nothing but garbage puzzles, or has a unique and unusable interface.
This one (at least so far) doesn’t have those flaws, or anything else that makes it completely unplayable, so it’s the only one I can imagine pulling up to kill 5 minutes at the BART station.
Still, the ads popping up randomly in the middle of a puzzle? That’s beyond annoying. I’ve already accidentally clicked on two of them while trying to draw a bridge, which not only wastes my time, it also lets a sleazy advertiser claim a clickthrough they didn’t deserve. There’s a reason everyone else does the ads before each puzzle instead of in the middle. If there were any playable alternatives, I wouldn’t play this one. But, as far as I can tell, there aren’t.
