    Now that I have fully recovered from back surgery I need to drop the extra weight. Found my BMR from the doctor, so I wanted an app that would let me set a daily goal and give me credit for active calories burned. Paired with an Apple Watch, this apps does it perfectly. It’s also super easy to scan, find, or enter food that I eat.

    When you log in what you are eating, you realize what you THOUGHT (or hoped) was only 100 calories was actually 359 calories 😆 AND this creates an awareness of-DO NOT eat 3 cookies... just one to satisfy because that ONE COOKIE just cost you 100 of your dinner allotted calories 😉

    I’ve used LoseIt intermittently for years (before and after having a baby), and have also used other apps/services such as Noom and DietBet. LoseIt is my favorite. In terms of food logging, goal setting and tracking, it is far and away the easiest and most functional to use. The database of foods and drinks for which they have nutrition info is staggering (10,000x better than Noom on that account.). The ability to track macro’s (protein, fat, carb) is clutch if you’re trying to do keto, low carb/high fat, or other specific diets along those lines. The way the app analyzes your logs and offers personalized insights can be really helpful (“on days you eat a high-protein breakfast, you tend to eat fewer calories overall,” etc.) I have found it very useful to be able to manually adjust my calorie goals beyond the calculated one-size-fits-all limit they provide the same way as everyone else. It’s nice to be able to log and interact with all your data both on the app and online. The new ability to personalize the background with fun colors and patterns is frivolous, but honestly makes me happy when I log in. It integrates well with a host of other apps and devices, such as Fitbit and RunKeeper, etc. My favorite thing of all is that I recently logged a jump in my weight which had me bummed out. LoseIt showed me this message: “Don’t worry about that. 1 weigh in doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things: it’s all about the direction of the overall trend.” Then it reminded me how much weight loss I’ve logged in the last few months (a lot!) and gave me a button to click that said “Scale, don’t slow my roll!” That kind of reassurance was so welcome and encouraging. I don’t do anything with the social aspect and it’s easy to set your privacy settings to be protected from all that mishegas. Overall, it’s an easy-to-use, pretty, powerful app with tons of functionality and lots of thought given to every detail of supporting you in your goals. Highly recommend!

    I used Lose It! twice or three times over a period of years and each time lost the weight that I had aimed to. Then, as happens with every diet, I stopped, and promptly though gradually began gaining the weight back. Over two years ago, I decided that I would not stop ever. I would set a goal, reach it, and maintain it. As a result, I not only reached my goal but exceeded it. In sum, I lost 30 pounds when I only knew that I was 10 overweight. I would never stop now. I maintain a steady weight and will keep it there as long as there is this app.
