  • love the redesign, issues sending to a friend

i was just talking to a friend about how Pocket would be so much better if they improved the text to speech reader and just two days later they incorporated a whole host of updates to make listening to articles a better experience. Great minds think alike! One bug I’ve noticed since the new update: The send to friend feature seems unable identify senders. I got an email notification with the following error whenever I try: “The share did not include any valid recipients.” Otherwise, loving the direction of the app.
  • One step forward, two steps back

I’m a longtime user. I even have a Power Reader sticker from Pocket for being in the top 99th percentile of readers. And I might have to start looking for a replacement. Is it not possible to view archived articles by tag anymore? The new text settings aren’t as clean as before - line height is smushed. Took me awhile to realize what some of the new icons were for. The “listen” feature seems to be getting a lot of attention in this update. I have no use for that and would like to turn it off entirely. But, the article list & discovery view look cleaner now with some padding. So that’s something, I guess...
  • Reader broken now

Please put the voice reader back the way it was. It wasn’t broken and was already everything we needed! I need to be able to select my own voices and listen to articles offline (I’m on subway most of the time). I shouldn’t have to be online for any of these functions to work!
  • New UI is Terrible

    - My List now uses huge fonts that are unchangeable. In the older versions they change based on the font size you set to iOS but that’s not the case anymore. This is a huge issue for anyone with a lot of articles and want to see as many of them at once. This design is great for small screen phones but I use a 5.8 inch 18:9 one, so it’s a lot of wasted space. I’m not even on the iPhone Max, where this problem will be worse. - Send Button is Harder to Reach I send a lot of articles to my friend so this is really important. In the previous version the send button was at the bottom which is fairly easy to reach one handed. The problem with having it in top is that a lot of phones nowadays are really LONG so it’s a long way to reach up. For something that I use tens of times a day, the effort and time adds up significantly. And I’m not even on the Max, where this problem will be harder. ==== Based on the two major problems above, is as if the people who designed this UI were only used to using small phones and don’t think about how all these design changes translates to big and long phones. The new UI is really bad and significantly diminished the usability of the app. I’m a Pocket Premium subscriber for a long time now and I’m also within the top 1% of active users (I got an email from Pocket acknowledging as such). I really love the service but these new changes are really bad. Please modify them and don’t make change for the sake of change, they must also increase functionality too. If I don’t see these rectified in the new few months, I’m unsubscribing, simple as that.

  • Audio option has been compromised

    By Volitionwise
Earlier, the reading / audio option would show a cursor around the word that was being read. That user experience helped me look up a sentence if the audio transcription wasn’t great (about 30% of times). That feature no longer exists making it harder to follow the articles.

Such an easy and useful app! I use this everyday with no difficulty. The user interface is clean and easy to understand. This app deserves all the recognition it gets.
  • Great but

It is a great app but why can’t you read the stories while the app is reading it to you? It’s either reading or listening right now. Please add the ability to read while listening to the story.
  • It doesn’t read non English articles anymore

I use the “listen” function everyday during my commute. My articles include English and non English ones. It used to read in either languages, but not anymore for the non English ones. Pleas fix this! Thanks
  • Massive step backward

I can no longer listen to articles in the car because it requires data, and a cell signal. This makes a key use case completely unworkable. Please bring back text to speech done locally on the iPhone!
