update jul 21 2018- wow, as usual Plex is trying to outsmart itself and its users. Somehow they have now removed the library list with the most recent UI APP update. it is simply atrocious and even less usable than before. Unfortunately I still most often use the web interface of Plex. I must’ve accidentally updated Plex or maybe it was when I got this new phone and did an icloud restore, as over the years I’ve learned and no better than to ever update the Plex app. but somehow the Plex app was updated, and for about the first five minutes when I open the new version I assumed my server was down or something was broken because I couldn’t find my library listing. I hate that I pay this company five dollars a month, but I hate more that there is not a single alternative to Plex and I have to put up with plexs ridiculous crap Update apr 2018- with Plex pass, playing content from my iPhone to my iPad when traveling barely works, it is not the wireless network, as the issue is when my phone locks/the screen goes off a minute or two after I get a spinning indicator on my iPad once I wake up the iPhone the content jobs back. To make matters worse you can’t sync/transfer from your iPhone to the iPad, clearly is in the proper format. The few times I use anything plex it’s a waste of time. EDIT- mar 2018- One star on here additionally because the Apple TV4 Plex app is simply atrocious. You only get to see about 12 characters of your libraries name (when libraries are the entire heart of the Plex system). Additionally search doesn’t even function nor even open up. This is on Apple TV4 , plex official app. —- I have no idea why an update would remove features present in prior versions, but that is what Plex has done here and as usual there is no way to roll back to the prior iOS Plex app. One of the most important functions- is now apparently gone, the view "by folder " option. I can't believe that any level of testing was done in this function left out, how are we supposed to browse folders of videos that are organized as a TV season or movie? Or collections of music?? Additionally in the prior iOS Plex app you could view very detailed information on any file (including exact media information and file location relative to the flex server), I see that option has been removed as well. Instead of praising the "upgrades" in the description for this update how about stating what has been removed so that users can know to avoid this update. I'm on Plex pass so I don't mind paying, but don't remove features/functions , ever, please! Uodate: try figuring out how to delete synced content on your device. Or try to walk a family member through how to sync content to their device for when traveling. plex app still trash , they should try using their own trash iOS interface for once

They didn’t make it easy to locate your device. There many apps out there that move faster to playing your media.
  • I will not sing Plex praises anymore

App has gotten worse and worse. Now I have no idea how to connect to my library. Doesn’t even show up.

Things were great for a while and somehow an update screwed it all up for me. A basic thing got dropped from its features. Screen not falling asleep on you while playing in the app would be great. I hate having to turn off the feature in my phone settings only to remember to turn it back on when I’m done watching it. It’s about to burn a hole in my pocket or start on fire if I forget. A bit of an exaggeration but it’s frustrating that I never had to screw with things until a recent update. iOS 11.4 on iPhone 8 Plus. 2 stars UPDATE: Either app update or IOS 11.4.1 fixed the issue with screen locking during playback. Now if I could keep my server on so my paid subscription could work while outside of my home.

I initially really enjoyed my Plex app and told everyone I could about it. I’ve been extremely disappointed the last few months as I have not been able to watch a TV show or movie fully without it slowing down or not working properly. I have checked all of and adjusted my settings as well as restarted my devices and router yet the problem continues. I am very disappointed as of late with this app especially after reading the updates that have been made yet the same problems are still occurring. Then to top it all off as I attempt to contact them through support the forum to fill out and submit button disappear from the support option when chosen. So in order to submit my complaint I had to do so under another menu option.

New layout is very bad, like to old layout where your each Plex sever file type are group together, new layout is set by movie tv instead by each server... please revert

We have had PLEX for a long time and the recents updates screwed up EVERYTHING about it that was AMAZING!!!!!! My daughter is a super tech and spent a great deal of time loading it up with great content. She and I HATE the “upgrade”ed version! I’m writing this so nobody will spend their hard earned money and get something that LOOKS like Amazon or Netflix, but doesn’t work like AMAZON or Netflix! I will never understand why companies that have produced a good product always have to make changes that force people to deal with THEIR crazy concepts, which they call “updates”, but they end up being DOWNGRADES!!!!! If anybody reading this has made the mistake of UPGRADING to WINDOWS 10, then you’ll know exactly what I mean!!! The programmers think they have to keep making changes in order to safe guard their jobs, but the upgrades, 99% of the time, just drive people CRAZY!!!!! Run don’t walk away from this program.
