Best budget app I have used! I love that it syncs to my partners phone and that I can logon on a web browser too. I recommend it to anyone who even mentions the word ‘budget’ in front of me.

I love seeing my monthly budget and expenditures to know what’s left. What’s not clear is adding extra occasional income; it seems to mess up the next months set budget.

When my husband and I got married we tried several budgeting apps that just didn't work well for us. When we tried Goodbudget it was simple and we liked that it wasn't synced with any of our accounts. It's really helps us watch our accounts since we consolidate it on a weekly basis. Only takes 15-20 min and it totally worth it!

I have used a budget for decades and this is the easiest system I have ever used. I know where I stand at all times. The program tells you where your spending is compared to where it should be at that point of the month based on your budget.
  • Decent app, too large of a paywall

I think that GoodBudget is a decent app. You can easily pull up a pie chart and see what kind of spending you are doing. The downsides are that the app is way out of date and the last copyright was around 2011. Also, you can only use up to 10 envelopes before you have to pay a ridiculous price of $5 a month. That’s just the starting price, and the more envelopes you want, the more you have to pay. I think the app is best for very simple things but if you want to do your full bills, another app will probably be more ideal.

My husband and I wanted to better understand how our money was being spent, so we looked for an app to track all of our spending. We chose GoodBudget because we could sync the data between our phones, so if one of us added an expense, it would show up across all our devices. That would allow us to maintain an accurate, real time picture of our total family spending. We tried the free version for a while, and liked it so much we upgraded to the subscription option so we could add even more envelopes for an even deeper analysis. It’s been very helpful and I would definitely recommend this app.
  • Great App but better on Android

I love Goodbudget. I normally use my PC and occasionally use the app. I like how it syncs well across all devices. My only complaint is that the Apple app doesn’t give you the remaining balances with each transaction. What if I want to know what my balance was in a particular envelope before a purchase? Android and the web version can do it so why can’t Apple? Please fix that and I’ll happily give 5 stars!

We’ve been married for over 25 years. We’re financially comfortable, so a budget always seemed like just “a good idea” but never a priority. Now with a daughter in college abroad, we’re trying to better analyze our spending to help avoid overuse of student loans. This has been wonderful! And the KEY to making it work has been NOT to micro-manage the money. (It’s what we did wrong every other time) Making my own categories means I can have one place for “monthly fixed expenses” that includes everything from recurring political and charitable donations to our mortgage. I’m now budgeting in only about ten categories and it’s perfect. The app’s haptic control to quickly add a transaction is great. The status bars are an easy way to judge discretionary spending. The splits are simple and easy to use. I did have to fiddle with the envelope fills the very first time, but it was quickly remedied. Now, if I could just merge it with something like Mint so all my digital transactions (we very rarely use cash) came to an Inbox for distribution/matching it would be even easier to use and 100% perfect. I love this app though, and know it will ultimately save us money.
