Okay, so I wanted to learn German. I installed the app and payed for the subscription of $10.00. Then, I tried to start the rest of the Beginner’s Course, but then it would not let me start. It brought me back to the subscriptions menu. So then I clicked on the subscription that I had chosen previously, which was $10.00 per 3 months. When I clicked on it, then it told me that my 3-month subscription renews on Jan 9, 2019 for $29.99 and that I can manage my account settings. Now I’m not sure what to do! Can someone please help me?
  • Gut fur mich

Next summer, I will spend 3 weeks in German speaking countries. In the 70s, I spent three years in Heidelberg. I went there with some minimal language skills. Out of necessity they improved. During the intervening forty years they have degraded. Next summer my family will revisit Heidelberg, where my daughter was born, Grindelwald, and Munich. I know I will not be fluent, but I wish to be able to handle basic situations comfortably. If nothing else this is respectful of host countries and sometimes it engenders like response. This program fits perfectly. The capitalizations, umlauts and esset issues are NO BIG DEAL for me. If I truly wished to be fluent in another language, I would enroll in an immersion program. I am 73 and have lost far too many Betz cells. This works fur mich without umlauts. Kurt

I don't see how to stop the monthly app fee.
  • Capitalization Problems

There is no way to input capital letters. In the German language, it is very important to make sure the learner understands what words start with capital letters (like nouns and beginning of sentences) and which words do not. Please fix this.
  • Frustrating for learning German

This program has you respond to translations by typing your answers but the program’s keypad doesn’t have the “esset” (double “s”) German letter and no option to input two s’s in your response so you get it wrong every time you need to use the double s! You’re trying to spell something correctly but the app prevents you from doing it. Not a good start for learning a language!!!!

I mostly like the program but I am very frustrated that even when I switch my keyboard to German it defaults back to English so I continue to get spelling errors
  • Overpriced for what you get. I prefer duolingo.

Overpriced for what you get, even when compared to other free apps such as duolingo. The developers should charge for the app as a whole (pay a single price per access to a language), and not an outlandish monthly subscription, especially when most people won’t have the time to continuously use it on a daily basis. I also don’t like that there is no way to skip certain “lessons”, which I am already very familiar with, so I ended up wasting a lot of time on very basic aspects of the language as opposed to moving on to more advanced topics. I have deleted the app and now use the aforementioned duolingo, which I actually prefer. In my opinion the value simply isn’t there.
