  • Love this fish ID app

    By Canada-Joe
I am not normally compelled to write a review of an app that I purchased or downloaded, but after experiencing so much joy and appreciation for this app I thought I owed it to everyone to comment. I purchased this app a couple of weeks prior to visiting Hawaii. I studied the material on the app and watched almost all the video files before we left. It was well worth the money I paid for the app and the time I spent studying the information. The pictures and video files are excellent and show male, female and juvenile fish of all the species. It made snorkelling so much more fun to be able to identify the fish I was seeing. I estimate that I recognized 80% or more of the fish I saw while snorkelling and with the help of a GoPro camera I was able to positively identify the remaining fish upon review of our video. It was a blast to keep track and log all the fish we saw and I owe all our fun to this app. I would recommend it to anyone interested in knowing the names of the species of fish they are seeing in the ocean around Hawaii. It is excellent and well worth the money. I absolute love this app and all its features. Don't hesitate on buying it. Joe
  • Sounds pretty fishy to me

    By PulelehuaQ
I can't believe you get all this for such a low price. It's amazing. Videos, Photos and a like to learn lots more about the fish. I love using the Log book, learning the Hawaiian names and legends, and the suggested beaches and maps make this a everything you need App. Just remember you can't take your phone in the water... it's really tempting... Great work! My only question is when is the app for invertebrates coming out? Also a Iphone version would be great to use at the beach.... Mahalo!
  • Great reference

    By zorrotherat
This is a wonderful addition to my iPad. The photos are wonderful, the videos are, also. The logbook feature with the ability to add notes makes it easy to keep up with fish identified, when, where, etc. Plus, not having to take the hard copies along saves weight in the bags. Thank you, John, for your hard work and ommunicating with me about issues.
  • Amazing!

Thrilled to have this on my iPad! There are many helpful ways to search for the specific fish you are looking for, and being able to add notes is a really wonderful feature. The images and videos are top-notch; Mr. Hoover's books are the go-to guides for identification. A must-have for every Hawai'i diver or snorkeler!

... now imparting his vast knowledge on the iPad. If you are familiar with Hoover's excellent dead tree work covering Hawaiian fishes and invertebrates, you won't be disappointed with Fish ID Hawaii Pro.
  • Better than a book!

This app is terrific. I've been coming to Hawaii for 30 years and have a number of reef fish guides. But for ease of use and finding the right fish, this app wins hands down. The videos are wonderful and are an added plus. Highly recommended.
