  • Eating up Data!

It's an awesome app but it’s eating up data! 2.5 GBs over 4 rounds of golf. Not ok.

Initially watch wouldn’t pick up course, close everything and now just tried to use the second time with an annual purchase but app won’t load.
  • Simple and easy but bad data

I like the UI and it’s simplicity, and would continue using the app, but the pars are all wrong for my course. After submitting corrections and requests a dozen times, and having to re-enter the info for every round, I just gave up and switched to a different app.

On my Apple Watch it only worked on the first 2 holes then it froze and would not work. As for my phone it worked about 90% of the time. GPS lags from time to time on here.
  • Great app, easy to use

Fun and easy to use on the course. The right amount of info so you don’t get sucked into the numbers. The only draw back I see is the might want to check how up to date they are in their course layouts. I play a course that was modified about ten years ago and the app has the old layout.

I have tried three other golf apps and none compare to this one. I use it with my Apple Watch 2 and unlike other apps it gives me a distance within a second of raising my arm. Based on that alone it is a five star rating to me.

I recently got this app and used it for the first time on the course. Loved it! Worked seamlessly with the apple watch too which was great! The 3D map is beautiful and if you like the traditional gps map look you can always change it. Overall I’d give this app a 4.5/5 because there were a couple bugs with the watch not recognizing which hole I was on but that was an easy fix. My only regret is that I purchased one month instead of the year membership.

Wouldn’t work even after restoring purchase in FunGolf Store on my iPhone 3 times.

My wife gave me a series 3 Apple Watch for Christmas. I couldn’t wait to try it out with a golf app when the golf season started. The golf season is finally underway here in the northeast US. I started reading about golf apps that supported Apple Watch. Before I tried Fun Golf GPS, I tried 3 other golf apps. Each app I tried was almost impossible to use: very difficult user interfaces, inaccurate distances, awkwardness syncing watch with the current hole in play, and difficult score entry. I usually stopped using each app by the time I got to the third or fourth hole. Plus trying to get the apps to work distracted me from my game and annoyed my playing partners. Today I tried Fun Golf GPS and was more than pleasantly surprised. The watch app accurately tracked my position and distance on the correct hole without any actions on my part. In one case where I hit an errant drive onto a different fairway, the watch app thought I was playing the hole where my drive landed. This was easily corrected with two touches on the watch to get back to the correct hole. It was very easy and intuitive to enter scores and putts. The resulting stats are very good. All of this while trying the app for the first time on the first few holes. This app is very intuitive. Compared to the other apps, this app is in a great class by itself. Even without considering how bad the other apps I tried performed, this app still exceeded my expectations. It is a pleasure to use.

Don’t get me wrong I don’t mind paying for an app. I’d pay 10 bucks for this to actually use the thing. It’s the stupid idea of paying a monthly subscription just to use it, no thank you. Seems like its a common thing these days.
