There are 140+ audio points that play automatically, featuring what to see, stories, tips and advice. All the benefits of a guided tour, the freedom to drive yourself. TOUR GUIDE AS YOU DRIVE THE ROAD TO HANA If you like driving yourself when you go sightseeing, GyPSy Guide™ tour apps allow you to enjoy a guided tour experience while remaining totally independent. By driving yourself, you'll be able to get from place to place faster, see more things and not be tied to anyone else's schedule. DON'T MISS OUT ON THE BEST SIGHTS AND STORIES The tour apps use your device’s location abilities to play the commentary AUTOMATICALLY. No cell network signal is needed while driving. All you have to do is drive, listen and decide which places you want to stop at (and those you might decide to skip). Our tour guides have created an insightful and entertaining tour for the Road to Hana on Maui. We’ll recommend the best places to experience along the way and some great locations that most visitors will drive by. There’s so much to see and do, GyPSy will help you prioritize what suits you best and make sure you don’t miss a thing. PLAYS AUTOMATICALLY GyPSy Guide knows where you are and which direction you are heading, and plays commentary automatically about the things you are seeing, plus stories and tips and advice. EXPLORE LIKE A LOCAL It’s just like having a local friend to show you around. And that friend just happens to be a professional tour guide. GREAT VALUE The same information you would get on a bus tour or from a guide book, for just a fraction of the price. And you control the itinerary and schedule. WORKS OFFLINE No data, cellular or even wireless network connection needed while touring. Download over Wi-Fi before you tour. Anyone can use them with no need for roaming data – even visiting from another country. DRIVING TOUR ROUTE This tour includes the most popular sightseeing stops and many more: 1) Ho'okipa Beach Park 2) Ke'anae 3) Wai'anapanapa Park 4) Hana 5) Hamoa Beach 6) Wailua Falls 7) Seven Sacred Pools at Kipahulu plus many more great scenic stops. We recommend giving yourself a full day to drive the Road to Hana and start as early as you can. The tour is structured so that we concentrate on sightseeing as we drive towards Hana. Most people want to drive back without stopping, so we have all different commentary and stories for the drive back that will entertain you and pass the time more quickly. Beware of suggestions that recommend going “the back way”. You are most likely going to be in a rental car. All the major rental car companies prohibit their cars being taken on the “back side” of Haleakala. NOTES Download the app on Wi-Fi from your network at home or use any free Wi-Fi network. Because the app is filled with audio commentary and maps, its larger than "normal" apps. Many phone/data networks may block the download because of size - so its important to download over a Wi-Fi network. ++ Continued use of GPS running in the background increases battery usage - we strongly recommend taking a cigarette style (DC outlet) car charger. This is much better than simply plugging into the USB port in a vehicle. ** iPad users - please note that WiFi-only iPads will not activate the commentary automatically. Any iPhone or network-capable iPad (WiFi + Cellular - whether you have a network connection or not) will work just fine. ABOUT US GyPSy Guide™ produce award winning audio tours along scenic drives around the world. • So Worth it

I was recommended this by a blogpost about the Road to Hana, and it is worth every penny! It was worth wayyy more than the $5! The guy is funny, really helpful and we learned a lot.

  • So worth the money!

This was the best $5 spent on the Road to Hana! Interesting narrative, just-in-time instructions, and thorough enough to help us understand how to budget our time. Most importantly, the app allowed all my passengers to enjoy the scenery instead of having their heads buried in maps or guide books while we drove. So worth the money!
  • Invaluable!!!

This was absolutely terrific. I would have paid 20$ for this app. So nice not to have to be reading a book with all those hairpin turns. His food recommendations were awesome! Don’t miss this for your road to Hana trip!!!
  • Must have before you start driving

The guided tour is well designed, informative and entertaining. My kids took off their headphones to listen. We were often tempted to ask the app questions Alexa style. May be next release and when the road gets cell signal😊
  • Great potential, disappointing execution

First of all, this is an incredible value application. I purchased for use on an iPad Pro 9.7 inch. Loaded with great information and guide points. However... These comments are specific to the iPad version I truly am sorry to say that it was pretty useless in actual usage. In preparation I downloaded this before our trip and verified everything was good. When we were on the highway, I validated that all location services were turned on and the app functioned. BUT, and this is huge, it could not track my location. We had this in a clear line of sight position in the car And we even backtracked a bit to the start point near the airport. When we started the app, i did reach a point where it would correctly find and mark our location on the highway but it never tracked as we moved. In much frustration after many restarts of the app, the iPad and the services that was the best we could ever do. This essentially killed all value in the application. Luckily our son had enough patience to try to track where we were and manually triggered the narrative about the location. Doing this we missed a lot of points of interest, but did gain some great insight. The return trip stories were very informative. This should be a five star application. However with the problems making this very difficult a 2 Star is all I can give it. It was only $5 making it a fantastic value if you can get it to work. The phone version might have worked better? I tried to download it for the phone but it did not recognize my purchase and allow me to download. I was not willing to pay another $5 for it based on the iPad experience. While I think a refund is in order because it did not work, I’m not chasing after it because, well, it’s only $5 and we did get some value. But be may not work as expected. As a side note, I consider myself technically astute with a career in computer and mobile electronics and software. I fully understand how this should work and the perquisites for operation.
  • Great Tour Guide

My family and I heard great things about this app. It is just like having a tour guide. Perfect amount of talking and his suggested stops were perfect. I also like that he he tells you about the other stops even though they are not his suggested stop. He warns you of congested areas or very tight pins. It worked without signal and without WiFi which is awesome because you lose that very quickly.
  • Invaluable

This app was invaluable for our trip! It really made things so much easier. Depending on your time, it helps you decide where to stop! Loved it! It could use a wee bit of tweaking since one of the recommended stops in partially closed.
  • Excellent

My Wife and I recently used this app for the Road to Hana and we really loved it! It gives you excellent directions as well as history and fun facts. Works like a dream. Totally worth the price.
  • Great resource but not currently accurate

Like everyone else mentions, this is a great tool to assist you on the road but I will be sending a note to their customer service. As of December 2017, the caves at black sand beach are closed and the seven sacred pools beyond Hana are closed to entry. You can only view the pools from a hill. The narrator is enjoyable and the history for the ride home is entertaining.
