  • Arbitrary subscription cutoff

I’ve been using this app for a few years on my ipad- I am a home user, I do my personal financial projections on excel. I recently upgraded to a 10.5 sized ipad and lo and behold, now I have to pay monthly to use excel! This is silly- I just went for this year’s pro model which happens to be 10.5. 🙄
  • Still no fix for dictation

    By inthesand
Wow. iOS 12 came out in September and we've had at least THREE excel updates and NONE of them have fixed the issue with iOS dictation. Apparently, the Microsoft fix is to display a banner that say something like "we are aware of the issue with Excel and iOS dictation. Please update the next version when it is released" when Excel is restarted after a crash. Well, I did that with the latest release and it still crashes when I press the microphone button button. And, occasionally, I still see that that banner. I have a bunch apps installed and none of them have a problem with iOS dictation. I don't use Word that much. The problem seems to be intermittent there. And I've never had a problem using dictation with PowerPoint for iOS. But I have the problem *every time* with Excel for iOS. I've tested this on two different types of iPads and iPhones, all running the latest version of iOS 12. They all crash when you press the microphone button. I've uninstalled, reinstalled. Doesn't matter. I have found out that Google's "gboard" offers dictation and works with Excel. You'll have to decide for yourself if the potential trade-offs in privacy are worth it. And every competitor spreadsheet product I have tried also works with iOS dictation. I have some become so familiar with Kingsoft's WPS office product that I am forgetting how to use some of the functions Excel. Maybe that's not such a bad thing after all.
  • Constantly closes in background

    By Hernace
I think this is a Microsoft issue, since it doesn’t appear to happen with other apps. Whatever spreadsheet I have open will almost always be closed if I switch to another app, then switch back to Excel. I assume iOS closes the open spreadsheet in the background. That said, I suspect Microsoft could do something to have that spreadsheet automatically re-opened when I switch back to Excel. It makes Excel almost unusable, though I don’t see many comments to this effect here. Happens on iPhone XS and the newest iPad Pro 11inch.
  • Macros

Si hubiera la forma de que funcionaran las macros en esta versión de Excel, sería el único dispositivo que utilizara.
  • Still Semi-Broken/Almost Unusable

BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN 12/10/18 FOURTH update in a row that hasn’t resolved the issue of the current file not staying open for very long and needing to be downloaded and reopened over and over again each time Excel is brought to the foreground after a short while, which several others reviews have mentioned. So disappointing, but I haven’t found a good enough iOS alternative to replace this. Yet.

  • Not Worth the Cost

    By Zargothius
I don’t use excel on the iPad very much. Maybe 2-3 times a year. Having to spend $7 a month is too expensive to have my own subscription. Can’t even get the subscription already purchased on another account to work. I think Google Sheets is my next best bet
