Learn Spanish, French, Italian, German, and many more languages with Babbel. Developed by a team of language learning experts, Babbel has helped millions of people speak a new language with confidence. THE BABBEL METHOD Here’s what makes Babbel more effective than any other language learning app: 1. Confidence — Our goal is to get you speaking from your very first lesson. And our elegantly designed courses give you the confidence to get there. We teach you how to engage in practical, everyday conversations, making it easier for you to have authentic experiences in your new language. 2. Comprehension — Our lessons immerse you in relevant culture and real-life conversations. We want you to really take in the language, not just memorize useless phrases. And we provide helpful hints in English (or your native language) to make your new language more relatable. 3. Retention — We know you’re busy. That’s why our lessons are short but sweet: about 10-15 minutes, and designed to send your new language straight to long-term memory. We regularly refresh your memory with our dynamic review sessions, which target areas where you need improvement most. Finally, we make sure you really grasp what you’re learning by bringing it back later in a new context. • Caution

My credit card company declined transaction, I called to inquire why and they identified the site as high risk, their words, not mine.

This app seems amazing, but i wish it had more languages provided, i am trying to learn korean, and i feel like this app would help me a lot if it provided it.
  • Too hard for children

    By Tina-in-Texarkana
While the app has a good variety of useful phrases, the speed of the speech is too fast for young learners. An additional drawback is that the app keeps logging the user out for no reason. Duolingo is better for children.
  • Awesome but,

I love the app it teaches you so many languages and reviews where you are and correct you do it if you say it’s not right. However my child wants to learn Japanese and a few other languages but they’re not on here so I hope in the next update they’ll include Japanese. But so far five stars
  • So Disappointing

    By Tracie7742
I found this app difficult to get started. The issue isn’t the language tutorial but a seriously flawed user design. I was unable to something as simple as log in using email! It took multiple rounds w tech support to try and change my language if choice - never successful w that. I am using a mobile device (its an app... duh) but perhaps that’s the issue. Very surprised the App Store let this one go through.
  • It’s good

    By djt60
It’s good but slow. The speakers are so slow and sound so bored when repeating the drills. The info is good, but I’d almost give it a 3 because of the slow, bored sounding speakers.
  • No progress

    By gladlylearn
I started the first lesson, did most of it, and stopped at a breaking point. Now when I return, & press “continue” I am repeatedly returned to the question, “Continue or start over?” I don’t want to start over! This is a mess.
  • Meh

I’m trying to learn some Portuguese for a trip to the Azores. Some of the language is Brazilian Portuguese which can be different. Sometimes the recordings make the words, while the same, have different sounds. It can be confusing.
  • Forgot one thing....

The other thing that annoys me with the app is the positioning of the DONE and backspace buttons. Many times I am trying to backspace because of having typed in the wrong letter by accident. And I do mean MANY TIMES! Often just trying to type one word! But then I also accidentally hit the “DONE” button. Again, I think the best thing this app could do is to give the keyboard the ability to accept verbal answers. This would allow users to have more conversational opportunities as well as making it less stressful to try to type in the language accurately. Personally, as a native English speaker, and graduate degree holder that includes creative writing, I have auto correct on my phone, as well as dictating ability. Most of us can’t manage to hit those little buttons accurately in English, so why expect it in a foreign language?
