I really don’t like when companies don’t keep their word. When they deprecated the original app they did so because of the one-time-pay pricing model. They wanted to charge annually. A new app gave them the excuse to charge customers again. They realized they made a promise they couldn’t keep. Instead they gave a year or two “free” of the new app. The real problem is that the original app was far superior. They just made a less-good version because it had to be “different” to justify the new app and thus new pricing model. Long story short, this app costs more and isn’t nearly as good.

I like the app but I won’t use it again until they get off their butts and gets it to work with Apple CarPlay.

It doesn’t let me download any maps! I have 200GB and keeps telling me Not Enough Space!

Looks neat offline maps are nice. Set avoid interstate highways and it is sending me on the 5. Let me know when the app is complete it’s nice otherwise (though not going to use to drive as google maps can send me on uncontrolled routes like this). How do I get a refund for the 5 bucks or whatever you charged for the monthly drive over 50 cause I’m going to use another app.

The good thing is that it’s graphically very slick and not silly like other GPS apps. But the bad is the navigation itself. Particularly over highways. It doesn’t announce highway names or numbers most of the time. You have to look at the screen to get the exact direction. Also, while on a highway and being directed to exit, it once it told me to exit at a weird street name when the exit is actually called something else (it said “exit 19, Warlow st” when the exit is actually another name, and boulevard, not street. ). Sometimes it names the highway. Sometimes it just says the highway number (“i123”) rather than the name. Sometimes (most times) it just says “freeway”. But it never ever says exactly what’s on the actual road signs. There is no reconciliation between what signs you see on the road and what you hear from the GPS. Very disorienting. I’ve been using this app to navigate me to places I already know how to get to, just to test it out. If I didn’t already know where I was going, this app would confuse me and get me lost. The navigation is really bad. Also while the interface is visually slick it’s confusing to interface with during a trip. Oh and also there are no voice alerts when it alerts you of a traffic camera or anything else. Just an audible blip. You have to look at the screen to see what it’s alerting you of, because there no voice alert. And you have to look at the screen to see what highway to take also. It’s like the developer doesn’t realize drivers need to watch the road and not have to look at their GPS screen. I can’t believe this was made by TomTom. It seems like it was made by an amateur GPS company rather than by an old staple like TomTom. This app looks beautiful but functions very badly.
  • Horrible product

I purchased the tom-tom go to use while I was in Paris since I do not have service on my phone. Well, they charged me but it still says I need to upgrade. I contacted customer support over a week ago and they are unable to resolve the problem. They gave me instructions to download on the computer, which obviously I’m not using directions on the computer. Very disappointed with this product and was relying heavily on it on my vacation. Do not recommend.

Found app without a good signal to not work and became useless in the driftless region of Iowa and Wisconsin. Also, before traveling make sure to download all updates on good WiFi before leaving home.

Please stabilize the Go application. Also, if a mobile device is connected to the car speakers via USB, please make the default speaker the car speakers. It took me a while to figure out that I had to go to my iTunes library, open up the song that was playing, find the right icon and switch the sound to come through the car speakers. I’ve had all versions of the Tom Tom. Please don’t let this one turn into a junker.
  • Is this supposed to be a real app?

Hello!? Is anybody there? I used my “internet connection“ to download the app and maps then it tells me check my “internet connection” when trying to setup an account?! Can’t setup an account. Can’t upgrade. I’ve never heard of an app so poorly written it won’t even take your money...
  • Presentation of search results

When searching for a point of interest, I am presented with a list of possible results with a location identified by a zip code and not by a city and state. When two possible results are about the distance away that I expect, I have to use trial and error to find the right one as I do not have the list of zip codes memorized. Fix that and you get one more star. Get it on Apple Car Play (or whatever that is called) and you get the fifth star
