  • Great app for Podcasts

    By tgebest
I have tried many Podcast apps and could never find the right one for me. Overcast is, by far, the best I’ve tried. It has a very in depth amount of personalized options for many different aspects of a podcast player. Honestly I didn’t know I needed a lot of the options until I tried them. You will love it.
  • Terrible support

On the strength of all the excellent reviews, I downloaded this and paid for premium right away. But then after one session of use, the continuous play function just stops working. I reinstalled the app and found the same problem. Repeated emails to the developer and no response or even acknowledgment. And I’m a premium user! This is terrible terrible app support. Don’t buy it if you want the continuous play function On an iPhone

I was looking for an alternative to Apple’s Podcast Player with similar features. I found what I was looking for in the Overcast player, and I haven’t looked back.
  • Great for people with poor battery life

Hiya, I'm gonna preface this review saying I have a 5S that's around two years old, so my battery can't even support things like Spotify for too long without exploding. That being said, overcast is probably the best app I've used in years. Not only are the features like downloading podcasts really nice for me, but I love the main staples of overcast: smart speed and voice boost. Marco did an amazing job with the design of these features because they are everything podcast listeners need. Smart speed takes your current podcast and takes out long pauses and empty space to save you those precious minutes that you can spend browsing more Reddit. Voice boost is a setting that helps to make choices clearer, especially in noisier environments. Overall, great app and highly recommend.
  • Terrible!

All I wanted was to listen to a podcast oldest to newest. It wouldn’t do that from the show page for some reason, so I created a playlist and added the episodes. On two separate playlists, the app started correctly and the after playing 1-2 episodes, deleted everything except the last two. It also included episodes that were not part of that podcast on the show page. What a piece of garbage.
  • Big fan

I switched from Apple Podcast to Overcast last year and it was a great decision. No more crashing, no more weird bugs with shows not downloading, easy to use, easy to make playlists. I’m a big fan.

Love Marco Arment’s attention to detail, passion for podcast listening, and commitment to not sacrificing the user experience!
  • Better than Apple Podcasts

    By eyevandrago
Better playback options, show notes display in the proper format, and the skip ahead 30 seconds button is clutch when you don’t want to listen to another Squarespace ad 😎
  • Not auto deleting played podcasts

I guess this is a tough thing to program.
  • My favorite podcast app

    By Ghshephard
I've used all the popular podcast apps, and previously pocket cast was my favorite - but it's now been replaced with overcast . The key differentiator isn't the whiz bang audio speed up , but instead the elegant simple straightforward interface. It is the antithesis of the apple podcast app, which absolutely infuriated me. Looking forward to many hundreds of hours with this app. June 2015: this app continues to be one of the top three or four that I use every single day. It's brought me so much joy - now across my iPhone 6. January 2016: I continue to use this app so much that sometimes I wonder whether I have purchased a overcast appliance instead of iPhone. February 2016 - overcast, over last 45 days, has been the number one use of my iPhone - it's close to the perfect App. March 2016 - with the 2.5 release, and new behavior for single touch downloading without playing - a great podcast app became even greater! Sept 2016 - overcast and tweetbot get 3-4 hours use, every day. Still love it. Feb 2017 - new GUI is a fluid dreamlike experience. Packaging *just* overcast and iPhone is a meaningful value proposition. Unquestionably the favorite app on my iPhone. Dec. 2018 - still use it every single day - with the latest release the GUI has *finally surfaced all the features a finger flick away. Even the ads are so interesting I *keep* them on. One of the Gems of the iOS world - my screen time shows that my iPhone is almost an “overcast” device.
