Very focused on the past
By Hannah Marie 93
At the bottom, I wish it would allow users to scroll through days, rather than only letting users see past days. I want to see what I am doing tomorrow, because yesterday’s tasks can’t help me plan.
I would totally use this app if I didn’t have to spend so much money A+
Why not to pay for app
I have paid for this app and wish I didn’t. I would recommend using Reminders that come with your phone because the app does NOT allow you to customize the times when you choose to be alerted in morning, afternoon or evening. You have to click on Reminders in app to set a specific time. If you do yoga 5 days a week, you will have to set the Reminder (in app custom alert) 5 times.
I do yoga, 4 days a week at a particular time, I check my blood pressure 3 times a day 7 days a week at a particular time and I jog 4 days a week at a certain time. I had to customize the Reminders in the app 29 TIMES!!!
If you would like to be reminded at a certain time and have a lot of task, you have been warned. If your not a stickler for time, then you will like the app.
Used to be great, but not anymore
The old version of this app was great and easy to use. However, this newer version is a big let down. The constant ads are annoying and disruptive. I previously purchased the app and the new subscription service won't restore my purchase, so I paid for access that I no longer have....I'd consider paying the subscription fee again if the app itself wasn't so bogged down with useless pop-ups.
Too many upgrade Ads.
I don't appreciate this app constantly harassing me, to upgrade their app yes I get it you want everyone to upgrade and pay to better your app that makes sense. But I feel like it takes the fun out of the app as someone that is new to this application. With constant pop ups as I click through the app. As a user of the app and potential customer, I don't need to see contact reminders on upgrading I will appreciate it if they would draw back on the upgrade ads because I only need to see it 1 time to be reminded If i would like to upgrade or not. It's really annoying as a user and it makes me want to delete this app for how annoying it is. please draw back on this.Thank you.
Finally an app that actually motivates me to stick to my goals, whether they’re daily or yearly. I rarely write reviews on apps but I couldn’t not write one for this app. I wanted to give it 4 1/2 stars because my one complaint is pretty small but I either can’t figure it out or it’s not possible.
As I said, this app has helped with my motivation to get things done quite a bit. I’m usually a procrastinator but the idea of breaking a streak because I’m feeling lazy drives me crazy, which encourages me to just get it done. It’s a really great psychological trick and it’s really what sets this app apart from other reminder apps (and I’ve tried quite a few because right now I’m still writing my to-do lists and reminders on paper every day and I’m trying to get away from that and switch to my phone and other Apple devices.
As I said I do have one minor complaint, and it’s that you can’t add any notes or additional information until you’ve already completed the task. This frustrated me a couple times and left me having to keep the additional information in a separate app, which is not ideal. Pretty minor, but if it is possible and I’m just missing it could someone let me know? And if I’m correct about this... developers? :) could you maybe allow it in a future update? If Productive had that capability, it would be a 5 star rating from me.
Overall though I’d highly recommend it. I’m only still in my week long trial but I intend to keep the paid full version (totally a reasonable cost for a year which says a lot about how worth it the app is because I’m super cheap when it comes to any purchases, especially electronic ones).
So try it out, you’ve got nothing to lose. Try the upgraded paid version for at least the week’s free trial you’re offered to see if it’s worth it for you, too. And if it is, I think the cost for a year is pretty justifiable.
Nice app but subscription is ridiculous.
The user interface in Productive is laid out well and I actually prefer it to other apps like HabitBull but their subscription structure is ridiculous and I refuse to rent software rather than own it. This trend across the software industry is poisonous and in every instance that a developer has changed to a subscription only based fee structure I have sought an alternative app or, in cases like Adobe products, I’ve either downgraded to inferior versions like Photoshop Elements or have gone against my own ethical standards and pirated a piece of software because the developer took away my choice to own it. I hate piracy, and in the case of Photoshop I have learned to settle using Photoshop Elements rather than a pirated full version, but the amount of revenue Adobe and other developers have missed out on from me is substantial due to their own greed. I understand that some consumers prefer a subscription model and they should certainly have that choice but it should be a choice rather than a requirement due to the choice of ownership being taken from them. Back to Productive... I would have definitely bought it for $4 when it was that price but I just learned about it. I would gladly spend $10-$20 or even more to own it now but since it is now only available to rent I have chosen to use HabitBull as my daily habit tracking app. I guess developers of apps like Productive feel that the revenue lost from driving away customers like me is outweighed by the increase in revenue from their subscription only fees. It’s a depressing trend and one that I hope dies out in favor of both purchase and subscription choices being the standard. The sad thing is that I’d have never even considered writing this review had they given me a choice of purchasing or renting the app. I encourage every consumer to keep up the pressure on developers to offer that choice. The developers of Productive have lost me as a potential customer as long as they do not offer a purchase option but the next company has a choice. Do they want my money or not? Thanks for reading.
Promising, but some definite flaws.
I’ve been a premium user of this app for over 2 years and try to use it regularly, but it has a few flaws that don’t seem to be budging.
1. You can’t snooze a habit.
If you don’t get to a habit on it’s assigned day, you can either skip it or leave it incomplete. There’s no option to snooze for any amount of time (e.g., next day). A 3D Touch or long press on an active task to snooze until tomorrow would be great!
2. No option to hide completed habits.
If you have several habits on a given day (or in a given window, say, afternoon), there’s no way hide these. So you see your greyed out completed habits rather than those you have yet to do.
A simple toggle switch atop the interface to hide completed habits would solve this. Then if you wanted to view details or undo a completed habit, you could toggle the switch and do so, but by default, these should be hidden to avoid clogging up the interface.
3. Earlier incomplete habits vanish when the time window ends. (App badge and screen).
Say you’re running late, and some of your morning habits aren’t done by the time afternoon roles around. Those habits will vanish from the interface, and the badge icon counter for undone habits no longer includes them. There’s a small link to view them at the bottom, but if you have multiple prior periods (say it’s evening and you have a habit incomplete in both morning and afternoon), you have to view all habits, and this of course includes the completed ones (see above issue).
An option to always display incomplete habits after their time windows have passed would be much appreciated. The “do anytime today” is great, but there are tons of times users need “plan to do every morning, but even if the morning ends, I still want to do it”
4. No iPhone X support yet, but I didn’t dock points for this, it’s a new screen layout. Just would be nice (:
Great Habilt Builder
Great tracking tool but would if awesome if it was also iPad app.
Cool interface but not going to pay monthly
Why would you sell this as a monthly subscription? Just let me buy the app
